If the iPhone that has your Lockin Smart app is missing, use Find My on another trusted Apple device or Find Devices at iCloud.com/find to mark that iPhone as lost. Then confirm that Lost Mode is Activated, not merely waiting for the phone to reconnect. Lost Mode locks the iPhone with its passcode and suspends Apple Pay cards and passes; it does not by itself delete Lockin credentials, sign out every Lockin session, revoke other household or Matter controllers, or confirm that the door is locked.
That distinction matters for a Lockin Veno Pro because the lock has more than one entry and management path. While you secure the missing phone, preserve a working authorized PIN, palm-vein or fingerprint method, physical key, and a separate plan for reviewing household access.
What Apple Lost Mode protects on a Lockin app phone
Apple’s current Lost Mode guidance says that marking an iPhone as lost does four important things:
- Locks the iPhone with its existing passcode.
- Suspends payment cards and passes used with Apple Pay.
- Lets you show a contact number and message on the device.
- Keeps the lost-device action pending until the iPhone is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi or cellular service.
If Stolen Device Protection is enabled, Apple says Face ID or Touch ID is required to turn off Lost Mode. That is a conditional iPhone protection, not a Lockin feature. It does not mean that every Lockin access method or every household controller has been revoked.
If Find My was not enabled before the loss, the iPhone will not appear in Find My or at iCloud.com/find, and Apple says you cannot mark it as lost or remotely erase it. Do not treat an unavailable device list as proof that Lost Mode is active.
How to activate and verify Lost Mode
Use a trusted Apple device if you have one. If the missing iPhone was your only trusted device, use the web route.
- Open Find My and select Devices, or go to iCloud.com/find and choose Find Devices.
- Select the missing iPhone.
- Choose Lost Mode or Mark as Lost.
- Add a callback number or message only if you are comfortable displaying it on the Lock Screen.
- Select Activate.
- Recheck the device status. If it is offline, the request can remain pending until the iPhone connects. Pending is not the same as confirmed activation.
Avoid links or calls claiming that Apple found your iPhone. Apple warns that it will not contact you to say the device was found. Do not give anyone the iPhone passcode, Apple Account password or verification code.
What this means for Lockin Smart access
The Lockin Veno Pro User Manual lists these separate daily access methods:
| Access path | What Lost Mode changes | What you still need to check |
|---|---|---|
| Lockin Smart App on the missing iPhone | The iPhone’s passcode lock places a device barrier in front of the app. | Lost Mode is not a documented Lockin session-revocation or account-sign-out command. Do not promise that it invalidates an existing app session. |
| Lockin Smart App on another authorized phone | Nothing automatically. | Review the home, administrators and user permissions from an authorized device. |
| Lockin remote unlock | Nothing automatically on other controllers or phones. Veno Pro app control also depends on the lock remaining connected to Wi-Fi. | Confirm which people, phones and integrations can still manage the lock. |
| PIN, palm vein or fingerprint at the lock | Nothing. | Keep at least one authorized local method available so you do not lock yourself out while reviewing access. |
| Physical key | Nothing. | Keep a key in a secure location and consider the separate response if a physical key is also missing. |
| Matter or another smart-home controller | Nothing automatically. | Review connected Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings or other controllers separately when applicable to your model and setup. |
The Veno Pro manual also describes Key Freeze under Manage Access. It can temporarily disable all access credentials for a non-admin user without deleting that user profile. That can help when the person—not merely the phone—is the access concern. It is not documented as a lost-iPhone switch, and it should not be presented as a way to freeze an administrator’s phone or every connected controller.
A safe response after the phone is secured
Once you have submitted Lost Mode, work through the Lockin side from an authorized device or with the household administrator:
- Check the door status and physical safety first. Lost Mode does not prove that the installed lock is locked. If you are nearby, verify the door in person or use a separately verified Lockin control path.
- Review Lockin Smart access. Confirm the Veno Pro appears for an authorized administrator, and review Home Management and Manage Access entries.
- Decide whether a person’s permission must be paused. If a non-admin user should temporarily lose entry, the Veno Pro manual’s Key Freeze path is Lockin Smart App → Devices → Veno Pro → Settings → Manage Access → select the user → Key Freeze. Do not use this as a substitute for a documented device-session reset.
- Review other smart-home apps. Matter integrations and other controllers are separate access layers. Removing or locking one phone does not establish that every controller, shared household account or local credential is gone.
- Preserve local entry. Test only an authorized PIN, palm-vein profile, fingerprint or physical key, and keep the door’s normal backup plan available.
- Ask Lockin about the unresolved part. If you need a specific Lockin account-session revocation, remote sign-out, lost-phone response or administrator change, contact Lockin Support rather than assuming Lost Mode performs it. Give the exact model—Veno Pro—and describe which phone, account, household and controller are involved without sending passwords or verification codes.
What not to do
Do not erase the iPhone as your first step if you still need to locate it. Apple says remote erasure cannot be undone. If you do erase it, do not remove it from Find My or your Apple Account prematurely; Apple says removing it can remove Activation Lock.
Do not delete the Lockin app and assume that uninstalling it revokes the lock’s credentials. App installation, account permissions, local credentials and physical keys are different layers. Do not factory-reset the Veno Pro just because one phone is missing; a reset is a broader change that can affect the household’s configuration and access.
The short answer
For a lost iPhone with Lockin Smart access, activate Apple Lost Mode and verify the status changes from pending to activated when the phone reconnects. Lost Mode protects the iPhone by applying its passcode lock and, when applicable, Stolen Device Protection rules. It does not itself confirm the Veno Pro is locked or revoke Lockin app sessions, other household administrators, Matter controllers, PINs, biometrics or physical keys.
