Lockin reached out to me after reading my original review, talked about improving the design. Very nice to see a company reach out and care about their products. Great customer service and support.Over works very well, with certain issues. Does not work great in the cold and battery life drops fast. Keypad and palm reader are usless when it is cold and key is only way to unlock it. Even the app won’t unlock it. After recalibrating the lock it may work once. Sun glare is another problem the lock has palm reader won’t pick up even if the sun is blocked. Key pad can be a little too touchy at times as well. The battery life is usually decent but sadly only way to charge it is either remove the battery or hook up a solar panel, No charging ports on the inside but one outside and haven’t been impressed by the solar charging. So battery has to be removed and can take a while to charge. I live in North Dakota, so we have very cold winters. When the weather is nice it works, but for the price may need to be considered.

I ordered this Lockin Veno Plus Palm Vein Video Smart Lock to use at our rental property. We don't currently have a smart lock or a video camera there and this looked like a great choice because it combines both of those in one unit.

This smart lock is BHMA certified with 10-year mechanical durability, IP53 Waterproof rated and can operate in temperatures ranging from -22F to 158F. It looks and feels very well made and is quite a bit more substantial in my hand compared to similar smart locks that I looked at in stores. The exterior lock and keypad portion has a metal case with a tempered glass panel covering the keypad. The interior portion with the lock/unlock knob is primarily plastic with a metal frame and metal mounting plate.

The built-in doorbell camera provides an ultrawide, 180 field of view and the 2K image quality is quite clear both day and night but there is a fish eye lens effect to the image. The camera also features motion detection, IR night vision, two-way talk and the lock has 8GB of built-in storage so you won't have to pay any additional fees for a monthly subscription plan. The large 5000mAh Lithium-ion battery is removable and can provide up to 3 months of use per charge depending on how often the lock and camera are used. The battery has a USB-C charging port on the side and can accept a 2V charge. It will require a full 6-8 hour charge before the first use. The exterior lock/keypad also has a USB-C port on the bottom that you can plug a power bank into in case the battery does run out sooner so you'll still be able to unlock it. The USB-C port can also be used with a solar charging panel (sold separately).

The lock has the typical lock/unlock capabilities that most smart locks have like app unlock, voice unlock via Amazon Alexa / Google Home / Apple Home / Samsung SmartThings, fingerprint unlock and keypad entry. There's also a hidden key slot under the doorbell button (2 keys are provided), but the really unique unlock option is the "Palm Vein Recognition" that scans your palm so you don't even need to touch the lock to unlock it. Setting up the Palm Vein access was pretty straightforward, but it did take a little time to do because I set up both of my hands as well as both of my wife's hands. It works quite well but it's not perfect, and both my wife and I found that we occasionally had to scan our palm a second time to unlock the door (about 1 in 5 attempts for me and about 1 in 8 attempts for my wife). The sweet spot for palm recognition seems to be about 6-8" from the camera and we found that showing our palm from about a foot away and then moving closer to the camera worked the best, so there may be a bit of learning curve involved. It will not unlock if you show a random or unrecognized hand. The fingerprint reader was 100% accurate regardless of what finger I used (I set up two fingers on each hand) and always worked on the first attempt.

While the initial price may seem high, this is both a smart lock and video doorbell camera that if you were to purchase separately would cost just as much or more. It does simplify installation since there is only one unit to install and you don't have to run any additional wires for the doorbell which is great for us since our rental property is an older home. I'm giving this a highly recommended and 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I really liked the idea of having a smart lock on my door that could be used in combination with a camera and a doorbell.

This smart lock with a camera arrived very nicely packaged. All the parts are nicely labeled and the instructions are very good.

The first thing I noticed with this lock is how solid and well made it is. This is not cheaply made and the quality of it is obvious the first time you hold it.

Before ordering this I had to make sure that my door would fit this. The dimensions are given on the product page and it is important to make sure it will fit before ordering.

Also, if you have a storm door in front of your main door then it will most likely block the camera.

Installation took me about 30 minutes. I had to remove an older lock first. Everything fit perfectly and the instructions were very straight forward.

There is a removable battery that you need to fully charge before using. The battery will last up to 3 month on one charge.

This is a combination of a doorbell, a smart lock, and a video camera.
The video camera is 2k resolution and is panoramic. Even when the person is close to the door you can see them from head to toe. There is 8 Gigs of memory that stores the videos.

The lock can be unlocked by many different methods including fingerprint, palm veins, pin, voice control via Google home, via the app, and even with the supplied keys.

I found the fingerprint and the palm vein feature works very well. In the past one person in our home has always had problems with fingerprint recognition and this works perfectly every time.

The lock has a tempered glass finish and looks great as well.

I am very happy with this combination of doorbell, camera, and lock. It gives a very clean look with a lot of features built in.

You can tell this is built to last and that the company takes pride in their product.

I am really happy with how well this smart lock has been working so far, making my life a lot easier as far as access and security goes. There have been way too many times where I have had to look for my key before getting out of my car just to make sure I can get into my house, and this smart lock has completely changed that with the numerous ways to unlock it. The palm vein scanner is surprisingly reliable, even when my hands weren't totally clean, plus it makes it very easy for me to open the door when my hands are full with groceries or bags. The fingerprint scanner has also worked great; I haven't had any issues with it recognizing my fingerprint. I like that I was able to set a 10-digit code too, very convenient when I have someone coming over as I can share the code with them so they can easily get in without me having to get up. The keyhole being hidden underneath the doorbell was a genius idea and makes a great backup plan for if the doors battery ever dies, but that shouldn't be an issue because it's very simple to charge with a USB-C cable and from what I can tell, the battery drains very slowly.

Now, one thing that worried me was whether it would be able to handle how hot the front door can get, which is usually up to 55 degrees Celsius in the springtime as the sun hits my door directly. After a bit of searching, I was able to find out that this smart lock can handle up to 70 degrees Celsius and as low as -30 degrees Celsius! Really glad I don't have to worry about the temperatures on the outside as the smart lock can handle it.

The cameras field of view really helps cut down on blind spots around the doorframe; the video quality is pretty good, as I can see everything clearly when someone activates it which is what I was hoping for. Once activated, the notifications came in instantly and didn't miss anything. Nice to know there is 8GB of storage and thankfully there is no subscription plan to be able to view the videos, which I am never a fan of; good on Lockin for adding local storage to the Veno Plus.

Installation took about an hour for me as I did have to reshape the hole in my doorframe. It was totally worth it now that I have had it up and running for a week. The instructions were easy to follow, which helped me out a lot. Getting it connected in the application was simple, though when setting my country I could only pick the USA and not Canada as it wasnt an option. It wasnt a big deal as it didn't prevent me from using it. I love that adding family members was easy. I just had to make sure they downloaded the app, and then I was able to send them an email invitation. Once they were added, they were able to get the same notifications that I get, like when someone comes to the door. I was also able to set a timer for automatic locking after being opened, which I kept at 30 seconds.

This smart lock has proven to be a great security addition to my house and has made my life much easier as far as getting into my house when my hands are full. Couldnt be happier with all the features it has, as they have all been working perfectly so far.

REVISED REVIEW ON 5.10.26- GOT REPLACEMENT LOCK FREE OF CHARGE. Worked great for 6 months, then appears internal motor seized up. Followed customer support email instructions and got quick response. I followed each request and sent pictures and detailed the problem but the same motor issue that controls the lock/unlock mechanism failed to work. I requested a replacement part but it was ignored and each email was like all the others requesting the same info I email previously. No resolution but email(s) requesting the same information I supplied. One star for poor/lack of customer relations/no offer to resolve. I didn't ask for refund or anything other than replacing what I believe was an obvious mechanical issue

The Veno Plus smart door lock does it all. Its doorbell, camera , deadbolt lock, fingerprint reader, access code reader, automatic door lock, in one device. the fisheye camera displays the full body of the person at the door. The most outstanding feature is the accuracy of the palm vein reader. The device reads the veins under the skin, and it does it quickly (within a second) and accurately. I tried many locks with a fingerprint reader and they all failed because I am over 80 years old and your print is not always detected by these lock fingerprint readers. Well this lock not only reads my veins but it also reads my fingerprints. The lock has its own memory so there is no need to add a memory card and you do not have to buy a monthly service from them. The lock is both WiFi and bluetooth connected to your iPhone so you can monitor the lock and receive notifications wherever you are. The lock has a very clear and loud speaker that allows you to communicate with someone at the door wherever you are.The downloaded app is chock full of features that allows you to customize the lock function to your satisfaction .When you buy a smart doorbell, all you get is a smart doorbell, the Lockin Veino Plus gives you everything you would need to secure the front door. I have to say it again, the palm vein reader is mind boggling quick and accurate. Now my whole extended family (up to 50 people) can get access to our house by just waving at the front door lock.When I initially installed the lock, the video feature did not work consistently. It took a couple of weeks to work out the problem, but their tech support stayed with me by constantly interacting and making suggestions through text, email, and over the phone till the problem was solved, So I must say that the tech support was excellent.

So I have to say, customer support is crazy good. Like beyond good. I had some technical issues, and very well could be user error or a network problem. My bluetooth wasnt kicking in like its supposed to. I also had a hard time getting my wrist bent to get my veins to work. I was well outside my return window and I messaged technical support, sent a vid and pictures and was hoping maybe a hub or something might help fix it. They are sending a new unit, hopefully when they get my old one back they can fix it and sell it to someone who needed one. So I never had problems with pins, and other setups the App is wonderful, especially if you are not tech savy. It works with alexa and when wifi and bluetooth are working...great video quality, and being mobility impaired allowed me to let people in without going to the door. Literally a lifesaver for me especially with ease of installation. If I could do it anyone can, no special tools. Take out your deadbolt, screw it in and adjust the sensor. It worked fine on my old crappy door and adjusted easy. The vein reader works great I just couldnt bend the hand up well enough. Finger print reader works fine although not for me until quite a few trys. Thats not the device, very few print readers work on me, and no I didnt burn them off. I used muriatic acid. 😁 The customer service really stuck out. I dont write reviews unless I get trash, or its super awsome, or outstanding service. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again, and likely I will in the next couple of months for a new house I hopefully get soon dropped here. So I figured they met the requirements for me to review. A+++

The palm vein works awesome! It’s a super solid device, the app works pretty good but I wish it had notification preview on the lock screen for an iPhone. Other then that the app and device is pretty great and has great features on it!

Update (2026-01-01): been using the replacement smart lock and it’s been working great. Battery usage was the same until last week when they have a firmware update. The firmware update seems to have a good power management as the battery is still showing 100% since we switched it with the spare.Hopefully this is a good indication that the battery will last longer now and not a glitch that it is not updating the battery life lolWill update if there’s any changesUpdate (2025-11-17): moving the solar panel helped to maintain the charge of the smart lock and extend it. Don’t need to replace the battery every month. Just make sure you have full sun hitting the panel.The smart lock has been working great except in the last couple of weeks. Customer service has been great, having issue at the moment that the smart lock does not detect the smart lock has been unlocked from the inside so it does not auto lock as it is still thinking it’s locked. I sent a feedback via the app and support has been responsive.Customer service will be sending a replacement so we can test and resolve the issue.Update (2025-08-17): as long as the solar panel has direct sunlight, it will be able to charge the Smart Lock battery. Our door only gets direct sunlight for 2 to 3 hours and able to charge the battery 2 to 4%. Sometimes, the panel only get direct sunlight on half of the panel LOL.. I have moved the panel so both panel gets direct sunlight. Hopefully that will increase the charging rate.I'm assuming if the solar panel have direct sunlight all day, it might be able to charge the battery more.We didn’t have a doorbell in our apartment and had been considering a doorbell camera for a while. When we came across this smart lock with a built-in camera and doorbell, we decided to give it a try—and we’re glad we did!Installation and Setup is super easy and straightforward. We had everything up and running before heading out on a trip.The smart lock works great. One standout feature is the door sensor—it detects when the door is fully closed before engaging the motor to lock it, rather than relying on a timer. The app sends notifications for lock/unlock events and motion detection, which adds peace of mind.This is the only downside we’ve noticed. While it has a rechargeable battery advertised to last about 3 months, ours was completely drained after just 3 weeks of use while we were away. Without anyone opening or closing the door during that time.Thankfully, it supports solar panel charging. We’ve just installed the panel and are currently monitoring its effectiveness. Fingers crossed it helps maintain the battery charge better! It would be nice if the solar panel were included with the doorbell by default, considering how essential it seems for consistent performance.Customer Support has been excellent! They’ve been responsive and helpful with all our questions.

I’ve installed the lockin in my house and it worked perfectly fine at first, but there was mistake when I installed it myself a wire broke off from the locking mechanism and the lock sensor wasn’t in the box so it couldn’t detect if the door was closed or not or even auto lock.I’ve contacted the manufacturer and less than a couple days I’ve gotten the parts without question. I’m very glad I’ve gotten them and their customer services is amazing. I’ve had it for 3 months and it works perfectly. 10/10

Great technology, the palm veins feature makes the operation very simple

Bought 2 of these locks. They work extremely well and love their functionality.I had a problem with one of the two I bought. Temperature issue with the locking mechanism, but their customer service was responsive and resolved the issue. Since then, no other issues and both locks and app have been exactly what I needed.

Update 03/19: I’m upgrading my reviews again based on the quick customer responses and consistent follow up to check back in. The lock is still superb. The initial battery replacement is performing better as the weather has been above 50 degrees. Colder weather does significantly decrease battery life.Update: awkward customer service bordering on creepy. 2/24/26. The initial interaction and response to send a replacement battery was great. As initially shared, the battery at 20 days underperforms compared to the advertised 7 month. I received another email from lock-in shortly after the original review posted offering to send me a new lock. This confused me as the lock worked great. I responded as such and “customer service” responded back with tell tale signs os “AI” indicating it might still be the lock and thank you for testing as I had shared I would try a swap just in case. Another email followed a 5 hours later stating nearly the opposite and blamed my WiFi router restarting as the ready for the battery drain and then gave suggestions to move it closer or get a router.Ugh. …and ding, ding, ding. This is NOT a human being. lol.Anyways, and likely against my better judgment, I responded honestly that my WiFi router is 10 feet from the lock and with direct line of sight. I also shared the WiFi router does not “restart” … it’s a rabbit hole tangent at best to explain the silliness of that assumption.The emails kept referring to their R&D assessments which adds to the comedy of these exchanges. I suppose it’s meant to make me feel important or at least that the issue is being taken seriously. (Look what’s behind door number one…).After blaming my WiFi router which is now crying in a corner huddled in shame, the chat bot asked if their assessment was acceptable.I responded no and that I would update my Amazon review to capture this creepy exchange.Great lock. Terrible battery. Great customer service.Battery lasted 5 days. I ordered another with same results. I contacted customer service. They immediately sent me another battery that did last 20 days.

The entire selling point was having a device that stays powered for months, not days.I reached out to support with all the order details, hoping this was just a defective battery.No response. Zero.For a $250+ product, that level of customer service is unacceptable.The idea behind this lock is fantastic — truly. It works perfectly and has a great design. It is easy to install; however, I wish the image of the person at the door could be viewed on another screen in addition to the phone.
