Can the Lockin App Disable a Lost Mechanical Key?

No—the Lockin app can remove digital credentials, but it cannot disable a lost Veno Pro metal key. Learn the safe next steps.

No. For the Lockin Veno Pro, the Lockin app can manage digital access such as passwords, fingerprints, and palm-vein entries, but it cannot remotely disable a metal key that operates the lock’s mechanical cylinder. If a backup key is lost, treat it as a physical-key security issue—not as an app-access issue.

What the Lockin app can—and cannot—revoke

The Veno Pro has several separate ways to unlock: palm-vein recognition, fingerprint, PIN code, mechanical key, and app control. The app’s Manage Access area is the right place to remove a password, fingerprint, or palm-vein entry that should no longer work. Changing the Lockin account password can also protect the account, but it does not alter the lock cylinder.

The mechanical key is different. When you insert and turn it, the key operates the cylinder directly to retract the deadbolt. Deleting a user, freezing a digital credential, changing an app password, or removing the lock from an account does not change the physical shape of the key or the cylinder. The lost key may still fit.

First decide what was actually lost

Use this quick split before taking action:

Situation Immediate response
A phone, app login, PIN, fingerprint, or palm-vein credential is at risk Use the Lockin app’s Manage Access controls to remove the affected digital entry, then secure the account and review remaining users.
A metal backup key is missing Assume the key can still operate the cylinder. Keep another authorized entry method available and contact Lockin support or a qualified locksmith about physical remediation for your exact lock.
Both digital access and the metal key are at risk Secure the account, remove digital credentials, preserve a safe authorized entry method, and arrange model-specific physical help.

What to do after losing a Veno Pro key

  1. Confirm the model and the type of key. This article applies to the Veno Pro question above. Lockin’s key and cylinder details can vary by model, hardware revision, and installation.

  2. Remove any exposed digital access. In the Lockin Smart App, select the device, open its settings, enter Manage Access, and delete or update the affected password, fingerprint, or palm-vein entry. If an app account may be compromised, secure that account as well.

  3. Keep an authorized way into the home. Do not delete every remaining credential or let the battery run down while you are waiting for support. The Veno Pro page also identifies emergency power-bank access, but the exact procedure should follow the current model instructions.

  4. Contact Lockin before ordering a replacement key. Ask support whether Lockin can identify the correct replacement-key path for your exact Veno Pro hardware and whether a qualified locksmith should handle the physical work. Lockin lists customer support at support@lockin.com; include your order information and model details when available.

  5. Ask about the physical remedy, not an app setting. Depending on the exact cylinder and local service options, the appropriate remedy could involve manufacturer guidance, a qualified locksmith, or replacing or rekeying hardware. Do not assume that a generic key, an interchangeable cylinder, a particular fee, or a DIY cylinder-removal procedure is supported.

Where is the Veno Pro keyhole?

Lockin’s current FAQ says the mechanical keyhole is located inside the exterior doorbell button. It also says the Video Smart Lock Veno series is supplied with two mechanical keys and recommends keeping them in a secure place. That is useful for locating the backup entrance method, but it does not make a lost key revocable through the app.

Should you factory-reset the lock?

Not as a substitute for addressing a lost metal key. A factory reset may affect account binding and digital setup, but it does not by itself make a physical key stop fitting the cylinder. Resetting can also remove access that authorized household members still need. Use the current manual or Lockin support guidance for any reset decision, and handle physical-key risk separately.

The bottom line

The Lockin app can remove digital credentials; it cannot disable a lost Veno Pro mechanical key. If the missing item is metal, preserve an authorized way to enter, remove any compromised digital access, and ask Lockin or a qualified locksmith for exact-model physical remediation. For model details, see the Veno Pro product page, the Lockin FAQ, and the Lockin user manuals.
