On Lockin Veno Solar Palm, waking the keypad and entering a PIN are separate actions. The first touch wakes the keypad without entering a number. Wait until it is awake, then enter your complete PIN starting with its first digit. If you counted the wake touch as that digit, you may have entered an incomplete code. This behavior is documented in the Solar user manual’s password instructions, PDF page 2.
On this model, a first keypad tap that only lights up the numbers is expected. It does not, by itself, mean the keypad is broken or your PIN has changed.
How the first PIN digit can get missed
Imagine that your assigned PIN starts with 4. You touch 4 on a sleeping keypad, see the numbers light up, then continue with the rest of the code. Because that initial touch only woke the keypad, the first digit was never entered.
The correction is to separate the wake touch from the credential:
| Keypad state | Your action | What to count |
|---|---|---|
| Asleep | Touch a number key to wake it. | No PIN digit yet. |
| Awake | Enter the first digit of your assigned PIN. | Your PIN starts here. |
| Ready for the remaining digits | Enter the rest of the PIN in order. | The complete credential. |
This explains one possible input mistake, not every rejected code. If the keypad is already awake, do not add an extra first digit as a universal rule.
The smart-lock keypad first-tap routine
Use this sequence for a Veno Solar Palm keypad that is asleep:
- Wake it first. Tap a number key. Treat this as preparation, not part of your PIN.
- Pause for the awake keypad. Let the numbers light up before beginning the code; there is no need to guess a fixed waiting time.
- Enter the full assigned PIN. Start at its first digit and continue in order. Use the actual credential you were given or created.
- Wait for the lock’s response. The manual shows PIN entry followed by unlocking; it does not add a final key-icon or # confirmation step to this sequence.
The password example uses a six-digit code, while the manual’s access-management section permits PINs of six to ten digits. Follow the complete PIN assigned to you rather than shortening it to match an example. See Solar manual, PDF pages 2 and 4.
Is tapping the key icon the same as entering a PIN?
No. The manual describes One-Touch Locking as a separate action for locking from outside. With that feature enabled, press the key button to wake the keypad, then press it again to lock. Those key-button presses are not PIN digits and should not be added to the password-entry sequence. See Solar manual, PDF page 3.
When showing someone how to use the lock, explain the action they need: wake, then type the PIN to enter; use the enabled key-button locking function when leaving. For the full leaving-home routine, see how to lock a smart lock from outside.
What if the PIN still fails after waking the keypad?
Stop guessing. Confirm the complete code and the intended lock with the owner, and have them check whether your access is currently valid. A correct wake sequence cannot make an expired or otherwise invalid credential work.
The Solar manual documents wrong-try protection that can temporarily restrict password entry after repeated failures. Follow any lock prompt and arrange an authorized backup with the owner instead of trying different combinations. Solar manual, PDF page 9.
If the keypad does not wake at all, or the complete valid PIN still fails, contact Lockin support. Describe the model, whether the keypad lit up, and the response you heard or saw. Keep the active PIN private.
Make everyday entry easier
Veno Solar Palm offers PIN entry alongside palm-vein access and a physical key, giving household members more than one supported way to enter. For someone using its keypad, the useful reminder is simple: wake first, then enter the whole PIN.
These instructions follow the currently linked Solar manual, version 1.0, dated May 27, 2026. For another model or different on-device instructions, check the matching Lockin user manual. Do not assume every smart lock’s first keypad tap behaves the same way.
