Removing a Matter Smart Lock From One App: Which Access Remains?

Removing one Matter app does not revoke every Lockin smart-lock path. Learn what remains and when to remove services, credentials, or reset.

Removing a Lockin Veno Solar Palm from one Matter app does not automatically remove every other way to manage or unlock the lock. If you searched for “remove Lockin Matter app remaining access,” the practical answer is to check each access layer separately. Removing one app removes that app’s connected-service control; other Matter services, the Lockin Smart App, local PIN or palm-vein credentials, and the mechanical key can remain available until you remove or reset them separately.

This distinction matters when you are changing smart-home platforms, handing over a home, or revoking a former household member’s access.

What remains after removing one Matter service?

For a Matter-connected Lockin Veno Solar Palm, think of access in separate layers:

Layer What removing one Matter app changes What it does not prove
One connected Matter service The lock can no longer be controlled from that service’s app on the phone or tablet where it was removed. It does not show that other connected services are gone.
Other Matter services They can remain connected if you remove only one service. They may still offer the lock’s supported controls.
iCloud Keychain Nothing changes unless you separately remove the accessory from Matter Accessories in iCloud Keychain. Removing an app tile is not the same as deleting the stored pairing record.
Lockin Smart App The Lockin account/device relationship remains until you remove the device there. Matter removal does not delete Lockin Smart App credentials or settings.
Local lock credentials PINs and enrolled palm-vein profiles remain on the lock until you manage or delete them. Disconnecting a smart-home service does not revoke local entry.
Physical key It remains a physical fallback. No app action can invalidate a mechanical key; rekeying or replacing hardware is a separate decision.

Apple’s current Matter guidance explicitly separates removing an individual connected service, removing all connected services, and removing the accessory from iCloud Keychain. When one service is removed, control is lost from that service’s app, not necessarily from every other path. Lockin’s own Veno Solar Palm page lists Matter, built-in Wi-Fi, the Lockin Smart App, palm-vein entry, PIN entry, a mechanical key, and voice control as distinct capabilities.

If you only want to stop using one smart-home app

Use the service-level removal, then verify the result:

  1. Open the platform’s Matter accessory settings and identify the Veno Solar Palm by its name or serial number.
  2. Remove it from that connected service only.
  3. Confirm that the old app can no longer lock or unlock the accessory.
  4. Check the remaining smart-home apps and the Lockin Smart App. Do not assume the old app was the only administrator.
  5. Test a local method—such as an authorized PIN or palm-vein profile—only if you are the person responsible for the lock and the door.

On Apple devices, Apple documents the path as Settings → General → Matter Accessories. Open the accessory, choose Edit, select the delete control, confirm removal, and choose Remove From [Connected Service]. Menu names can vary by software version, so use the platform’s current instructions if the labels differ.

If you want to remove every Matter connection

On an iPhone or iPad, Apple documents a separate “Remove From All Services” choice in Matter Accessories. That removes the accessory’s control from each connected service associated with that Matter record. It still should not be treated as a factory reset of the physical lock or as deletion of the Lockin Smart App account/device relationship.

After the all-services removal, check:

  • Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, or another Matter controller previously used in the home.
  • The Lockin Smart App’s device list and the household’s shared administrators.
  • Any saved local PIN, palm-vein, or other credential that should no longer work.
  • The physical key plan, especially if the lock is being transferred to a new resident.

Lockin says the Veno Solar Palm’s full setup, settings, and management are handled in the Lockin Smart App even when the lock is integrated with another smart-home platform. The app also documents access management for stored credentials and a separate device-removal path.

If you are giving the lock to someone else

Use a handover checklist instead of only deleting the Matter tile:

  1. Record the lock’s current state and make sure the door is open or you have a safe fallback before changing access.
  2. Remove the lock from each Matter service that should no longer control it.
  3. Remove the Matter accessory from iCloud Keychain if you do not want the setup record retained there.
  4. In the Lockin Smart App, review shared home administrators and Manage Access entries. Delete or pause credentials belonging to people who should not retain entry.
  5. Remove the device from the Lockin Smart App account when the account relationship itself should end.
  6. Factory-reset the bound lock only when you are ready to erase its configuration and have followed the current Lockin instructions. Lockin’s FAQ says a bound Veno-series reset requires the administrator’s password, fingerprint, or palm vein after holding the setup button for three seconds.
  7. Give the new owner the correct setup materials and confirm that they can add and operate the lock before you leave.

Do not factory-reset a lock merely because one Matter integration is no longer wanted. A reset is a broader, potentially disruptive action. It can affect configuration and access, while the narrower Matter-service removal answers a different problem.

Does deleting the Lockin app remove access?

Uninstalling an app is not the same as revoking the lock’s credentials. The Veno Solar Palm’s local entry methods are stored and managed separately from a phone’s app installation. If your goal is to revoke a person, identify that person’s shared-account permissions and local credential first, then remove or pause the relevant entry in Lockin Smart App → Devices → Settings → Manage Access, following the current app labels.

If you cannot identify who still has access, or if a former owner may retain a key or account control, contact Lockin support before relying on a partial cleanup. Keep the door physically secure while you resolve ownership.

The short answer

Removing a Matter smart lock from one app removes that app’s connected-service control. It does not automatically remove other Matter services, the iCloud Keychain record, the Lockin Smart App relationship, local PIN or palm-vein credentials, or a physical key. In short, remove Lockin Matter app remaining access by identifying the layer you intend to revoke, then choose service removal, all-services removal, credential cleanup, device removal, or factory reset accordingly.
