If your Lockin Veno Pro stops motion detection after the door opens, that is documented behavior: the motion-detection feature is inactive while the door is open. The lock can still report door status, show door-ajar information, and record other supported events; the open-door condition specifically prevents motion detection from continuing.
This is an event-acquisition rule, not evidence that the camera has failed or that Veno Pro cannot tell whether the door is open.
What happens when Veno Pro is open?
Veno Pro has two related but different functions:
| Function | What it does when the door is open |
|---|---|
| Motion detection | Inactive while the door is open, according to the Veno Pro user manual. |
| Door-status detection | Continues to determine whether the door is open or closed when the door-status hardware is installed and aligned correctly. |
| Door-ajar alert | Can alert you when the door remains open, subject to the app’s alert settings and the door-status sensor installation. |
| Motion recording and alerts | Depend on the motion-detection rule, Mode Settings, and Power Manager settings. Do not treat them as continuous surveillance during an open-door gathering. |
The distinction matters. A missing motion event after someone opens the door does not, by itself, mean that the 2K camera, 60 GHz radar, or PIR sensor is defective. It may be the expected open-door state.
Why does Lockin use this behavior?
The manual documents the condition but does not present it as a camera-fault message or promise continuous motion monitoring while the entry is open. In practical use, Veno Pro’s motion feature is intended to watch the approach and doorstep while the door is closed. Once the door is open, the lock prioritizes the known door state instead of continuing to treat activity around an open entry as ordinary motion-detection events.
That makes an open-door party, move, delivery handoff, or home project a poor test of motion detection. For a meaningful test, close and latch the door first, then create movement in the configured detection area.
What should you check first?
1. Close and latch the door before testing motion detection
Close the door fully and wait for the latch and door-status indicator to settle. Walk through the configured detection zone only after the door is closed. If a motion clip or alert appears in that state, the earlier missing event was consistent with the documented open-door behavior.
2. Check the door-status installation
Veno Pro uses the strike-plate door-status hardware to determine whether the door is closed or open. The manual warns that using the wrong strike plate, or installing the door-status strike plate incorrectly, can make status detection inaccurate and can prevent a door-ajar alert from working.
Check that:
- the Lockin standard strike plate with door-status detection is installed;
- the strike plate and sensor are aligned when the door is closed;
- the door closes without unusual resistance; and
- the status shown in the Lockin Smart App changes when you open and close the door.
If the app says the door is open while the door is shut, fix that condition before judging motion detection. A wrong door state can change how you interpret the result.
3. Review motion-detection settings
In the Lockin Smart App, open Devices, select Veno Pro, and go to Settings → Motion Detection. Review the detection switch, range, sensitivity, detection type, and any configured detection zones.
The manual also notes that changes to other mode settings can affect the motion-detection switch. Recheck the active mode after changing Party Mode, geofencing, or another profile.
4. Check Mode Settings and Power Manager
Veno Pro can use mode profiles that control motion-detection recording, motion alerts, and remote camera live view. Party Mode is especially important: the manual says these features are off by default in Party Mode to make high-traffic access easier and conserve power.
Power Manager also changes recording behavior. Optimal Battery Life records only when the doorbell is pressed, while Balanced Surveillance, Optimal Surveillance, and Custom Mode provide different motion-recording controls. These settings can change how much you record when the door is closed, but they do not override the documented rule that motion detection is inactive while the door is open.
How can you tell an open-door rule from a fault?
Use this short test:
- Close the door fully.
- Confirm that the app reports the door as closed.
- Confirm that Motion Detection is enabled for the active mode.
- Confirm that the detection zone includes the area where you will move.
- Walk through that area and wait for the app’s alert or event record.
- Open the door and repeat only as an observation—not as a valid motion-detection test.
If motion works with the door closed but not with the door open, the result matches the manual. If motion does not work with the door closed, check the detection settings, active mode, Wi-Fi connection, battery/power profile, and door-status alignment before contacting support.
What Veno Pro can still tell you about an open door
The open-door motion rule does not make the lock unable to report door position. Veno Pro’s door-status detection is a separate function. With the correct strike plate installed and aligned, the system can track whether the door is fully closed or open and can support door-ajar alerts configured in the app.
Do not use the absence of a motion clip as proof that the door-status sensor is wrong. Check the door status directly in the app. Conversely, do not use a correct “door open” status as proof that motion detection should remain active; the manual treats those as different functions.
When should you contact Lockin support?
Contact Lockin support if all of the following are true:
- the door is fully closed and the app reports it as closed;
- Motion Detection is enabled in the active mode;
- the detection range, sensitivity, type, and zone are appropriate;
- the battery and Power Manager settings allow motion recording; and
- Veno Pro still produces no motion events in a controlled closed-door test.
Include the model, app and firmware details, active mode, door-status result, and the steps you tested. Keep a mechanical key or another supported emergency-entry method available while troubleshooting any smart-lock behavior.

Bottom line
Veno Pro stops motion detection when the door is open because the Veno Pro manual documents motion detection as inactive in that state. Test motion with the door closed, then inspect the reported door status and strike-plate alignment if results still look wrong. The lock’s open-door status reporting and its closed-door motion detection are separate behaviors.
