If your Lockin lock appears twice in Alexa, it is usually because one physical lock has been added through two different Alexa connection paths: the Lockin Smart account/skill and Matter. The tiles can look like duplicates even though Alexa is receiving them from separate endpoints.
For a Lockin Veno Pro, do not factory-reset the lock first. Identify which tile uses the Lockin Smart path and which uses Matter, test the one your household actually uses, then remove only the unwanted connection. Keep the Lockin Smart app available for lock setup, model-specific settings, and a fallback control path.
Why the Lockin lock appears twice in Alexa
When a Lockin lock appears twice in Alexa, start by checking whether both the Lockin Smart account link and Matter are active. That distinction determines what you can remove safely.
Lockin’s Veno Pro FAQ documents both of these Alexa routes:
| Route | How it gets to Alexa | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Lockin Smart account link | Enable the Lockin Smart skill in Alexa and authorize the Lockin Smart account | A cloud-connected endpoint exposed by the Lockin integration |
| Matter | In Lockin Smart, open the Veno Pro settings, choose Matter Integration, and tap Bind Matter; then add the device in Alexa | A Matter endpoint controlled through the compatible Alexa Matter network |
The same physical Veno Pro can therefore be represented once by each route. Amazon’s own developer guidance describes this situation: a skill-connected device can also have a local Matter connection, and Alexa needs device-identification data to combine those routes. If the two records are not matched, Alexa may show two tiles.
The duplicate does not automatically mean that you own two locks, that the lock is unsafe, or that the lock must be reset.
How to tell which Alexa tile is which
Alexa may label the two records almost identically, so use a controlled check rather than deleting one at random.
- Open the Alexa app and note both tile names, rooms, icons, and any device-detail or connection information shown in Settings. Do not assume the first tile is the correct one.
- Temporarily give the tiles clearly different names, such as “Front Door — check A” and “Front Door — check B.” Avoid changing the name in the Lockin Smart app during this test.
- From each Alexa tile, check the lock state and issue the lowest-risk supported action for your setup—normally a lock command. Confirm the result at the door or in Lockin Smart. Do not test an unlock command by voice unless your household has deliberately enabled it and uses the required confirmation PIN.
- Compare the result with the Lockin Smart app. If one tile follows the Lockin-linked account behavior and the other follows Matter behavior, you have found the two endpoints. If both tiles behave the same way, leave both in place until you can identify their connection source.
- Check Alexa’s device settings for an “Other Assistants and Apps,” Matter, skill, or linked-service entry. The exact labels can change with Alexa app versions, so treat the visible connection details—not the tile name alone—as the decision evidence.
What to remove when you want one tile
Choose the endpoint based on how you use the Veno Pro:
| Your priority | Usually keep | Usually remove or disconnect |
|---|---|---|
| Lockin app features, Lockin account management, and a Lockin-specific fallback | Lockin Smart account/skill endpoint | The extra Matter endpoint, if you do not use Matter elsewhere |
| Local Matter control and a shared Matter smart-home setup | Matter endpoint | The extra Lockin Smart Alexa endpoint, if your setup does not need it |
| You are not sure which path your household depends on | Neither endpoint should be removed yet | First document the tile names, room, response, and connection details |
Remove one connection from the Alexa app or from the relevant linked service, following the option shown for that endpoint. Remove the specific duplicate device or service, not the physical lock from every system. Afterward, rediscover devices only if Alexa asks you to, then test the remaining tile and the Lockin Smart app.
Amazon documents that a Matter device can be removed from another voice-assistant system through the Alexa app by opening the device, choosing Settings, selecting Other Assistants and Apps, choosing the assistant, and confirming Delete. That flow applies to a Matter connection to another assistant; it is not a reason to delete every Lockin or Matter record when the duplicate is still unidentified.
If the duplicate comes back
Reappearance usually means the second connection is still active or Alexa has not finished synchronizing its device list. Work through this order:
- Confirm that only one of the two intended paths is enabled for this physical Veno Pro.
- Close and reopen Alexa, then check Devices again.
- Verify that the Lockin Smart app and Alexa app are current, and that the Veno Pro firmware is current according to Lockin’s instructions.
- If you kept Matter, confirm that the compatible Alexa Matter controller and the lock are on the home network required by your setup. The Lockin FAQ specifies a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi setup for Veno Pro and lists compatible Alexa hubs for Matter-over-Thread.
- Test the remaining Alexa tile and native Lockin Smart control before changing anything else.
If Alexa still shows two records and the source cannot be identified, keep both temporarily and contact Lockin support. Provide the exact Veno Pro model, app versions, Alexa device model, screenshots of both tiles and settings, and which control path worked. Do not send passwords, Matter setup codes, or private account credentials in screenshots.
Important limits
The current Lockin product page and FAQ support Veno Pro integration with Alexa and Matter, but they do not establish that every Lockin model, firmware version, Alexa app version, or household network exposes the same menus. Apply the steps to the exact model and current app screens.
The Veno Pro FAQ says remote unlocking through the Lockin app uses the cloud, while Matter and platform behavior depend on the connected ecosystem. A tile that can lock is not proof that every voice, unlock, video, notification, or remote feature is available through that tile. Test the specific action you need.
The short answer
If your Lockin lock appears twice in Alexa, it was likely discovered through both the Lockin Smart account link and Matter. Identify the two endpoints, keep the one that matches your routine, and remove only the confirmed extra connection.
