In today's digital age, smart locks have become essential for modern homes, offering convenience like keyless entry and remote monitoring. But to enjoy features like Venokey™ palm-vein recognition (unlocking in <1 second with 99.99% accuracy) on Lockin Veno Pro/Plus, knowing how to install a smart lock is key.
Prepare the exact Veno Pro or Veno Plus installation guide before removing the existing lock. Match the guide to the model on the box, check the door and supplied parts, and arrange the tools specified for that installation. Keep the old hardware for restoration and a working entry route available while the door is open. A compatible measurement is a starting condition, not proof that every mounting or cable step is complete; if the door preparation differs from the illustrated guide, resolve that difference before proceeding.

Step 1: Check the lock body type
Identify the existing lock and door preparation before removing hardware. Compare them with the installation guide for Veno Pro or Veno Plus, including the latch arrangement and required clearance. If the preparation does not match, resolve fit with support before drilling or forcing the replacement into place.
Step 2: Prepare Your Door
It is suitable for doors that meet the following conditions:
* Lock Body: American Standard Deadbolt Lock Body
* Door Thickness: 1⅜ in- 2¹¹/₆₄ in(35-55 mm)
* Crossbore Diameter: 2⅛ in / 54 mm
* Backset: 2⅜ in / 60 mm or 2¾ in / 70 mm
* Door Hole Diameter: 1 in / 25.4 mm
* Deadbolt Latch Box Depth: ≥25.4mm (1 in)
* Minimum Distance Between Handle and Crossbore Center(For Solar Charge Panel Installation): 3 in / 75 mm
*Compatible with Single Cylinder, Storm Doors or Mortise Locks NOT Compatible
*Note that Lockin Veno series is not compatible with storm doors as the storm door may block the camera. We recommend that you ensure your door is a standard entry door without a storm door before installing this producct.
*Works with doors that have a rectangular latch faceplate cutout. Not compatible with round faceplate cutouts.
Before fitting the exterior assembly, use the Veno Pro English installation guide or the Veno Plus English installation guide for the model on your box. Remove the old hardware and complete the guide’s deadbolt-installation section before fitting the exterior panel. For Veno Pro, route the door-status sensor cable through the edge bore toward the inside, orient the latch as illustrated, and keep the cable passing behind the deadbolt toward the interior so it is not damaged. Confirm smooth manual latch movement before continuing. Keep the original hardware for restoration and the door open during these checks. The measurement alone does not mean the latch work is complete; if your preparation does not match the guide, stop before fitting the exterior panel.
Step 3: Install Exterior Assembly
1. Measure the diameter of the cross bore. If 2⅛ in / 54 mm, install the exterior assembly directly.
2. Ensure the exterior assembly is vertical and securely fastened.
Support the exterior assembly and keep it aligned while following the model’s illustrated mounting sequence. Do not force a panel that will not seat correctly. Complete the mounting-plate and interior-assembly steps below before checking the connected thumbturn and latch.
Step 4: Install the Mounting Plate
1. Detach the mounting plate and battery cover from the interior assembly.
2. Run the cables through the slot on the mounting plate.
3. Align the mounting plate with the threaded screw.
Step 5: Install Interior Assembly
1. Plug the power cable,door status cable, and Wi-Fi cable into the sockets on the interior assembly.
2. Insert the tailpiece into the T-shaped slot on the interior assembly.
3. Check whether the latch can extend and retract smoothly by rotating the thumbturn without getting stuck.
4. Insert the rechargeable battery, close the battery cover, and check whether the device can connect to power and work properly.
Step 6: Power-Up and Initial Testing
Treat power-up as the start of testing, not the completion of installation. Insert the supported battery in the order shown for the model, then check the startup response and smooth manual bolt movement. A lit keypad does not verify the camera, door-state sensor, or full motor travel. Keep the door open and the mechanical backup accessible while testing the supported entry method, and only proceed to the closed-door checks after the hardware operates without resistance.
Step 7: Set Up via Lockin Smart App
Set up the lock through the model's guided process in the official Lockin Smart App. The Veno Pro manual directs the user to select the device, follow pairing, use the interior setup control, and complete the guided account and credential steps. Follow the displayed enrollment process rather than assuming a brief hand presentation is enough. Configure the supported permissions and network functions deliberately, and distinguish local entry from the remote video or control features that require connectivity.
Step 8: Test the Lock Functionality
Verify entry, locking, and the supported door reports as separate outcomes. Start with the door open, a working backup key accessible, and help available; confirm that the enrolled method operates the bolt without resistance. Then complete the model's closed-door alignment checks and test the intended PIN, mechanical key, and auto-lock behavior. Recognition or an app confirmation alone does not establish that the door has closed or the bolt has secured it, so observe the actual movement before relying on the installation.
From the inside, use the app to lock and unlock the door remotely, observe the live video feed, and communicate with someone outside to test that the two-way audio communication is transmitting clearly.
Also test the intended away-from-home app action with the phone disconnected from the home Wi-Fi and using an available external connection. Have an authorized person observe the actual bolt response at the door and keep a working local entry method available. An indoor app test alone does not verify the remote path you will use while away.
Troubleshooting After Installation
Even with plenty of preparation and the right tools, you should still be prepared to hit at least one or two unexpected elements before, during, or after your installation. Here, we’ll go over a handful of the most common issues and how to cope with them, so you don’t have to worry about finding the solution if you find yourself in one of these situations.
Investigate binding as an installation problem before repeating powered locking attempts. Compare the deadbolt, strike plate, mounting, and cable routing with the exact model's guide, and check whether the resistance occurs with the door open or closed. The Veno Pro manual also links accurate door-state detection to the correct strike plate installation. If the preparation or alignment does not match, seek installation help rather than following a generic instruction to file the frame or adjust unidentified magnetic components.
Connectivity problems are common once you move to the app-based portion of the setup process. Lockin smart locks use 2.4GHz wifi, so if you have a 5GHz-only router, you’re not going to see your lock join the network. You’ll need to log into the administrator interface for your router, and either enable a dedicated 2.4GHz SSID or get a dual-band router.
Video feed stuttering or pixelation usually points to insufficient network bandwidth or local interference. The LockinCam™ streams 2K video at up to 30 frames per second, which needs a stable uplink of at least 2 Mbps to thrive. If you have metered internet or if your router can’t support that level of throughput, you’ll need to lower the stream resolution in the Lockin app’s camera settings or upgrade your broadband package.
Resolve enrollment difficulties using the model's instructions and the observed symptom. Follow the supported hand position and on-screen guidance, keep the sensing area unobstructed, and check the fallback while access is available. If the problem continues, record which step fails and contact support with the exact model and relevant installation photographs. Finish by testing the intended household users and maintenance responsibilities, rather than treating app pairing or the presence of a video image as the final acceptance check.
