Lockin Biometric Enrollment Remotely: Can You Enroll a Guest?

Can you enroll a guest’s Lockin palm biometric from away? Learn the Bluetooth limit and when to use a temporary passcode or remote unlock.

If you are away from home, you generally cannot enroll a guest’s palm-vein biometric on a Lockin Veno Solar Palm remotely. The enrollment step requires Bluetooth connectivity between the Lockin Smart App and the lock, so the phone and lock need to be near each other. You can still prepare suitable guest access from a distance with a temporary passcode, or unlock the door remotely yourself when that is the right arrangement.

Why Lockin biometric enrollment remotely has a proximity limit

The Lockin Veno Solar Palm uses Venokey™ palm-vein recognition for touchless entry. Adding a new palm profile is a local enrollment action: the app must communicate with the lock over Bluetooth while the guest’s palm is being registered. A Wi‑Fi connection and a working internet connection do not replace that Bluetooth requirement.

This is different from managing an existing user. The current Veno Solar Palm/Face User Manual states that user permission revocation can be managed remotely, while adding palm-vein or face credentials requires Bluetooth connectivity between the app and door lock. In practical terms, the owner can pause or restore an existing user’s access while away, but cannot upload a new guest’s palm pattern from another location.

What to do when the guest is arriving and you are away

Choose the credential that matches the visit. Use this quick decision guide:

Situation Best-supported option What the guest needs
A one-time visit One-time passcode The code shared securely with the guest
A cleaner, dog walker, or recurring helper Periodic passcode The code during its scheduled hours
A trusted person who will visit repeatedly and can meet you at the lock Palm-vein enrollment later A local Bluetooth enrollment session
You want to let someone in right now Owner uses app remote unlock The owner confirms the person and unlocks remotely
An existing user should not enter during your trip Remote permission control or Key Freeze No new enrollment is needed

Option 1: Create a temporary passcode

For an arriving guest, a temporary passcode is usually the simplest remote alternative to Lockin biometric enrollment remotely. The product page describes one-time, scheduled, and recurring passcodes for guests and service providers. The manual gives these app paths:

  1. Open Lockin Smart App → Devices → select your lock → Settings.
  2. For a recurring visitor, open Temporary Password → Periodic Password.
  3. Set the 6–10 digit password, assignee name, and active hours, then generate it.
  4. Copy and share it securely. The manual says a periodic password cannot be retrieved after creation; if it is lost, delete it and generate another.

For a single visit, choose Temporary Password → One-Time Password instead. The manual describes a one-time password as valid for one hour and expiring after first use. Copy it before leaving the screen, because retrieval is unavailable. Share it through a channel you trust, and avoid posting it in a group chat where you cannot control who sees it.

Option 2: Unlock remotely yourself

If the guest is standing at the door and you can verify who they are, the Veno Solar Palm supports app remote unlocking when Wi‑Fi remains connected. In the app, use the lock’s Unlock control. This gives the visitor entry without creating a new biometric profile or passing along a standing credential.

Remote unlocking is an owner action, not guest enrollment. Decide in advance how the guest will secure the door afterward. Auto-Lock can help if it is configured for your routine, but confirm the setting and the guest’s plan before relying on it.

Option 3: Enroll the guest’s palm when you are together

If palm entry is important for a trusted household member, complete the enrollment when the guest and the phone can be near the lock:

  1. Stand at the installed Veno Solar Palm with the owner’s phone.
  2. Open Manage Access in the Lockin Smart App and tap the add button.
  3. Create the user record and select Palm vein recognition as the authentication method.
  4. Keep the app and lock connected through Bluetooth while the guest follows the on-screen enrollment prompts.
  5. Test the new palm profile at the door before relying on it for the next visit.

Do not try to photograph, scan, or copy a palm pattern into the app. A biometric record is not a text code that can be emailed to the lock. If your app labels or path differ, use the current model-specific instructions in the Lockin user manual and Lockin FAQ.

Can someone else enroll the guest for you?

Only authorize a person you trust to handle the lock and your Lockin Smart account. The manual describes Manage Access for trusted family members or friends and distinguishes ordinary user credentials from administration. If another household member performs the local enrollment, agree on the user name, authentication method, and how access will be paused later.

Do not give a guest your account password simply to avoid the Bluetooth step. If the visitor only needs entry, a time-limited passcode or a single remote unlock is a narrower choice. After the visit, review access in the app and remove, pause, or let the temporary credential expire according to the arrangement.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Bluetooth proximity still matters for new biometrics. Built-in Wi‑Fi enables remote management features, but it does not turn palm enrollment into a cloud-upload action.
  • A passcode is not a palm profile. It solves temporary entry; it does not enroll the guest for touchless palm recognition.
  • One-time codes are time-sensitive. The manual describes a one-hour validity period and first-use expiration.
  • Periodic codes need careful sharing. Record the schedule and copy the generated code immediately; retrieval is not available later.
  • Model instructions can differ. This guidance is for the Lockin Veno Solar Palm and the current combined Veno Solar Palm/Face manual. Check the exact model before following a setup path.

The short answer

Can you enroll Lockin smart-lock biometrics remotely for a guest? Not when the app and Veno Solar Palm are separated from the lock: new palm-vein enrollment requires Bluetooth proximity. For an arriving guest while you are away, use a suitable temporary passcode or verified app remote unlock. When you and the guest can be at the lock together, complete local Bluetooth enrollment and test the profile before depending on it.
